Our story

FrecciaRosa was founded in 2010 as an awareness and prevention initiative, with the aim of bringing citizens closer to health issues in a simple and accessible way. Over the years, the project has been able to evolve by expanding its areas of intervention and experimenting with new ways of involvement, from on-board train activities to digital services and screening in railway stations.

Over the years, FrecciaRosa has become an annual event combining information, prevention and proximity. A story of progressive growth, reflecting attention to the needs of citizens and the desire to promote healthy and mindful lifestyles.

2010 - The birth of FrecciaRosa

The first edition of FrecciaRosa marked the beginning of a unique journey: for the first time, breast cancer prevention travelled on board trains. The initiative involved the Frecciarossa high-speed trains, bringing free advice and informative material to passengers.

2011/2015 - The initiative expands

The project grew in the following years: more and more railway routes were involved, covering not only high-speed but also Intercity and regional trains. The Health guide distributed on board became a reference point for citizens and families, with practical advice on healthy lifestyles and prevention.

2016/2019 - Prevention goes national

FrecciaRosa reached all Italian regions, including the islands. The initiative was no longer limited to breast cancer, but broadened the focus to more aspects of women's health and primary prevention. The involvement of volunteers from Fondazione IncontraDonna, who met passengers and made them aware of the importance of free screening offered by the National Health Service, also grew.

2020 - The digital challenge with Frecciarosa.it

With the health emergency caused by Covid-19, the project reinvented itself and the Frecciarosa.it platform was born. For the first time, prevention entered the homes of Italians through online consultations, webinars and digital content, ensuring continuity for the campaign even in a complex year.

2021-2023 - New services and increased accessibility

In the following years, FrecciaRosa continued to innovate: on-board train activities returned, while the digital platform remained active as a complementary support. The project increasingly integrated prevention and awareness-raising services, consolidating collaboration with health institutions and scientific partners.

2024 - Screening and vaccines in railway stations

In the 2024 edition a great novelty was introduced: in addition to on-board activities, the mobile unit arrived at the San Lorenzo railway station in Rome thanks to the collaboration with ASL Roma 1 and the support of the FS Group, offering free Pap tests, HPV vaccinations and other cancer screenings.
